The ACS Fuel Cell is an electrochemical sensor designed to quantify breath alcohol concentration.  The internal sensing wafer consists of a porous substrate impregnated with sulphuric acid, coated on both surfaces with fine black platinum.  Additional platinum is used to connect the wires to an anode reference electrode and cathode measuring electrode.
