On July 19, 2017 Arrive Alive DRIVE SOBER and Alcohol Countermeasure Systems Corp. (ACS) held an event to acknowledge Gay Company Limited as the first company in Ontario to promote road safety by proactively installing alcohol interlocks in their fleet. Gay Company Limited is now recognized as a “My BAC is Zero” organization, conducting breath alcohol testing on all drivers and educating drivers regarding the risks of driving the morning after drinking. The owner, Lawson Gay, and his team decided it was an easy choice to install ALCOLOCK™ alcohol interlocks in their fleet to prevent an incident before it occurs.
Alcohol takes longer to pass through the body than most people are aware of, and many who operate vehicles don’t realize that they could still have high blood alcohol levels the morning after drinking. Tactics such as sleeping, drinking coffee or taking a cold shower may help an individual feel more alert, but will not speed up the process of alcohol leaving the blood stream.
With an ALCOLOCK alcohol interlock installed, drivers must provide an acceptable breath test that will guarantee they have zero alcohol in their system. The ALCOLOCK system provides safeguards that will alert a driver if their breath alcohol content (BrAC) is too high. All information and test results are recorded where the information can be easily tracked and analyzed by employers.
“As a leader within the alcohol interlock industry, we are pleased to see Gay Company Limited choose our products to ensure the safety of their employees, customers and everyone on the road”, says Felix J.E. Comeau, Chairman and CEO–Alcohol Countermeasure Systems.
ALCOLOCK ensures employees are safe to drive, protects passengers and cargo, and provides real time alerts if there are any alcohol violations.
