Biometrics and security

Visual non-invasive detection
The ultimate goal of this project is development of face detection and recognition system to be used in alcohol ignition interlock devices manufactured at ACS. The research carried out in this project will result in development of new, state-of-art road safety devices that will accurately and automatically authenticate the driver or alert a drowsy driver by incorporating multiple biometric traits.
Fitness to drive, drowsy / distracted driving
The objective of this project is to study and develop the system to asses fitness-to-drive based on eye tracking data; particularly for sleepiness detection and alerting drivers before impairment and lapses in judgment occurs. Advanced machine learning and signal processing techniques are applied in order to analyze the multi-modal data for development of appropriate algorithms / methodologies for “early warning system” to prevent sleepiness-related accidents in the transportation industry.
