Alcohol Countermeasure Systems (ACS) is currently paying close attention to Japan and the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, with the hopes of creating new opportunities for alcohol interlocks. Many foreign tourists, who are expected to visit Japan during the Olympics, will be dependent on public transportation to commute to new areas, and safety while traveling will be a critical priority for many.
ACS plans to increase the availability of alcohol interlocks and sell its versatile product line, the ALCOLOCK™ L series equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communication functions, to taxi and bus operators in Japan. The ALCOLOCK L series is reliable and robust and does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle. It is also equipped with GPS and has real-time fleet monitoring, which includes data transfer through GPRS.
“It is essential to have alcohol interlocks installed in bus and taxi fleets to promote safe driving and to comply with transport laws. Alcohol interlocks ensure drivers are not under the influence of alcohol, which alternatively provides passengers with a sense of reassurance and security”, says John Colton, Director of Commercial Interlocks at ACS.
The ALCOLOCK L series can also be paired with the ALCOLOCK Focus camera, a windshield-mounted camera that takes images and identifies that the driver is the source of the breath sample to provide the ultimate protection.
